The Bail Bond Process in Enfield

Bond is Set

The bail bond process begins with the Enfield Police Department setting a bail amount following the suspects arrest. If they choose to not pay the bail, they must remain in jail until their court date.

Call Alliance Bail Bonds

Instead of having your loved one remain in jail, reach out to us at Alliance Bail Bonds. In order to process your bond correctly, we’ll need information about the suspect. Such as their name, birth date, jail, bail amount, and so on. We'll take all the necessary steps to ensure your friend or family member is returned home.

Our Agent Meets You

Once we’ve had our initial call, we’ll make an appointment for you to meet with our Enfield bail bond agent. During your appointment, our agent will explain the bail process to you and depending on your situation, you may need to provide collateral. Collateral can be possessions like jewelry, cars or your home.

Within an hour, our agent will be able to retrieve your loved one from the Enfield Police Department. When they arrive, they will take care of all the necessary paperwork, and help the defendant return home as soon as possible.

The Court Date Arrives

After the defendant is released from the Enfield jail, they will be given a court date that they must appear at. If the defendant fails to show up to court, they will be found by our bond agent and returned to jail.

The Bond is Exonerated

It doesn’t matter if the defendant is found guilty or innocent, they are still responsible for completing the payment of the bond.

Bail Bond FAQs

How long does the Bail Bond Process take?

Once the suspect is booked and processed, a bail will be set for their release. Depending on the day and situation, it can take as little as 40 minutes for their release. On weekends or particularly busy days, the process may take a couple of hours.

How Much Does a Bail Bond Cost with Alliance Bail Bonds?

The bail bond costs that we provide at Alliance Bail Bonds are regulated by the state of Connecticut. When you have a bond up to $5,000, there will be a 10% rate attached. On the other hand, bonds above $5,000 will have a rate of 7% plus an additional $150. To help reiterate the process further, if you have a $2,000 bond, the rate will be 10% and would total as $200. If you have a bond that is above $5,000 such as a $10,000 bond, the rate will be 7% plus an additional $150. The total of this example would be $750.

What is the 35 Percent Down?

When we mention 35 percent down, it refers to how the state of Connecticut has a down payment for your bond. If you are currently looking to receive help from a bail bondsman, the minimum deposit you must put down is at least 35% of the PREMIUM on the bail. If you have anymore questions, please reach out to us!

What is a Co-Signer?

For extra precautions, we may require the defendant to have a co-signer. In the event that the defendant does not pay the bond, the payment will fall on the co-signer, as they are obligated to complete it. If the defendant fails to show up to court at the Enfield court, the co-signer will have to assume financial responsibility, even for an unpaid premium. Usually, a bail bond company will only accept co-signers that are currently employed.

Who is the Bail Commissioner?

The Bail Commissioner is from the State of Connecticut and they are appointed as the individual who will decide on the amount for the bond. They will also give suggestions to the court as to what bail is appropriate for criminal or motor vehicle cases.

What is Collateral?

Some bail bonds may require collateral, which is items such as houses, cars, fine art or jewelry. Collateral may be requested on top of a premium, but this will be evaluated depending on available equity. After the defendants court date, the collateral will be returned to the owner. Unfortunately, if the defendant doesn’t show up to court on the appointed time and date, the collateral will be forfeited.
